Services we provide

Screenings

Our screenings consist of a quick, informal assessment designed to determine if your child might benefit from a more detailed evaluation. This preliminary screening is crucial for identifying early needs and setting the course for necessary assessments and interventions to support your child’s development. Please note, no written report is provided following the screening.

Therapy Sessions

Our therapy sessions are designed to provide focused, effective treatment and are structured to last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the specific needs and goals outlined in the child’s personalized plan of care. During these sessions, therapists engage the child in a series of structured and play-based activities that are specifically tailored to target the developmental objectives set forth in their individual treatment plan. These activities are crafted to be both therapeutic and engaging, ensuring that the child remains motivated and can make the most out of each session.

Comprehensive Evaluations

We offer a thorough evaluation of your child’s skills. Our comprehensive assessments are conducted using a blend of standardized measures, dynamic assessments, and play-based techniques to ensure a complete and accurate analysis of your child’s abilities.

Duration: The length of each evaluation is tailored to your child’s unique needs, focusing on their level of participation and attention. Generally, evaluations last for at least one hour.

Components of the Evaluation Report: Each evaluation or re-evaluation concludes with a detailed written report

Parent Consultation

Our parent consultations are an ideal resource if you’re concerned about your child’s development, unsure about their progress with milestones, or eager to find more effective communication strategies. These sessions are designed for families seeking insights without committing to ongoing therapy. You can book these consultations on an as-needed basis to receive expert, tailored guidance specific to your child’s needs. Whether addressing particular concerns or simply ensuring your child is on the right track, our consultations offer valuable support and practical advice, empowering you to play a proactive role in enhancing your child’s developmental skills.

Design of educational activities:

We specialize in the design of educational activities that both parents and professionals can utilize to enrich children’s learning experiences. Our focus is on creating bilingual activities that not only embrace multicultural perspectives but also promote diversity and inclusion. We carefully craft these activities to resonate with children from various cultural backgrounds, including tailored adaptations that highlight specific cultural vocabularies.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We strongly advise against the “wait and see” approach, as delaying intervention can negatively affect your child’s communication skills and academic success over time. Limited vocabulary at an early age can particularly impact reading skills as your child reaches school age. We recommend scheduling an evaluation with a speech language pathologist who can offer expert guidance and strategies to enhance your child’s communication development.

The time it takes for a child to make progress in therapy can vary widely depending on several factors, including the nature and severity of the disorder, the child’s age and overall development, their consistency in attending therapy sessions, and engagement in supplementary activities at home. Most families notice some improvement within a few months, but significant progress or more comprehensive outcomes can take longer. Continuous communication with your child’s therapist will provide you with updates on their progress and any adjustments needed to support their development.

Please expect to receive the evaluation report within 2 weeks from the date of assessment.

During your child’s sessions, our clinicians will observe their behavior through a variety of structured and play-based activities. Should they note behaviors that could indicate autism spectrum disorder or other developmental issues, they will assist you in arranging a comprehensive evaluation with a neurologist. Please note that while our Speech-Language Pathologists are trained to identify potential signs of autistic traits, they are not qualified to diagnose ASD.

We specialize in teletherapy, enabling everyone across the state of Florida to access professional services from the comfort of their homes. However, for those in the Miami area, we offer in-person therapy either at the child’s daycare or educational center. If you prefer services at a therapy center, we can recommend facilities that partner with Yellow Brick Road Therapy. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss the best options for your child.

We accept credit/debit card or other digital payments, Insurance/superbill, and Step Up for Students Scholarship (FES-UA). For more information about payment and insurances, please leave us a message through our contact form.
